Set up your assistant

Download the package once. It contains the instructions, format, validator and two fictional examples. You do not connect an AuditIt account to the assistant.

Claude

  1. Enable code execution and file creation in Settings → Capabilities, if your account permits it.
  2. In Customize → Skills, use the add control, choose Create skill, then Upload a skill. Select the downloaded ZIP.
  3. Enable the uploaded AuditIt template author skill, start a chat and ask it to use the skill.

ChatGPT with Skills access

  1. Look for Skills in your ChatGPT interface. Our tested Pro account offered Upload from your computer.
  2. If that option is available, upload the ZIP, open the skill and choose Try in chat. Use Work when the interface asks for a mode.
  3. Select or mention the AuditIt template author skill and ask for the downloadable JSON file.

If Skills or ZIP upload is missing, this setup path is unavailable in that interface. Check the current host instructions or use Claude with Skills enabled. An ordinary chat attachment is not a skill installation.

Start with your requirements

Describe the workflow, sections, fields, choices and evidence you need. Share process requirements with the assistant; leave customer records, private evidence and credentials out of the prompt.

From file to reviewed draft

Follow this sequence on the web or in an Android/iOS version with import enabled.

  1. Upload

    In AuditIt, open Templates → Import template. Choose the destination workspace and the generated .auditit.json file, up to 1 MiB. The skill ZIP belongs in your assistant.

  2. Validate

    AuditIt checks the format, supported fields, settings and workspace access. Fix reported issues in your assistant, download the corrected file and validate it again.

  3. Preview

    Read every section, field, choice and evidence setting. Check whether this is a single visit or a before-and-after workflow.

  4. Review

    Confirm the destination, name, requirements and warnings. If a name already exists, explicitly confirm a separate copy.

  5. Create draft

    Confirm your review and create the draft. Open it in the template editor for any final changes. Publishing is a separate action before the template can be used for audits.

A single-visit template records one visit without comparison. A before-and-after template records two stages. AI output still needs your review; validation checks supported structure and settings, not the suitability of your process.

If you get stuck

I cannot install the skill

Check that your assistant supports custom Skills and file creation, and that your administrator permits them. Upload the complete ZIP to Skills. If that path is unavailable, you can still create a template in AuditIt’s existing template editor.

Import is missing or paused

Sign in, select the intended workspace and check that you are an owner or admin. Import also needs to be enabled for that workspace and supported by your app version. A pause is an availability issue, not a defect in your file.

The file is rejected

Choose one .auditit.json or JSON file, not the skill ZIP, a PDF or a document. Keep it within 1 MiB. Give the assistant the reported validation issues and ask it to correct the definition without silently removing requirements. Download the corrected file and validate again.

A field or setting does not match what I need

Check the preview before saving. The format supports text, textarea, number, boolean, select, multiselect, date, photo, video and acknowledgement fields. Ask for corrections rather than accepting invented options or unsupported logic. Metadata preferences are not per-field capture enforcement, and comparison exclusion does not hide a field at one stage.

My file is in iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Downloads

Save the generated JSON in Files or Downloads, then select it with AuditIt’s file picker. A cloud provider may need to download it locally first. If the provider is unavailable, save a local copy and choose that file.

I am unsure whether the draft saved

Use Check save status in the import flow. Keep the existing recovery attempt until AuditIt confirms the result; do not start a fresh import to work around an uncertain save. Once confirmed, open the saved draft.
